The dough is then rolled out into flatbreads, and baked in an Indian oven known as the Tandoor. Roti: While Naan is very popular in Indian restaurants, roti is a common food item in Indian homes. Roti, a simple Indian bread made from whole wheat flour, is typically made by kneading it into a soft dough and then formed into thin circles. Then, it's cooked on an Indian tava (Indian stovetop) for a final finish. Paratha: Paratha refers to flatbreads made of layers of flour that are pan-fried. The flatbreads are made of wheat flour. When you roll them the dough, the use of ghee (or oil) is spread between the layers of dough. There are many methods to make parathas, especially ones that are stuffed. Stuffed Paratha refers to the time when the filling is placed in the form of a dough ball and then flattened into a flatbread.
